Going to Svalbard once was enough to instantly make me want to take up wildlife photography and learn how to do it right.

As soon as I was back from the islands, I got myself a 16-80mm lens. Then, crucial step (and actual point of this post), I traded in the two lenses I already owned, an 18-55mm and a 70-300mm, in exchange for a 100-400mm, and I started taking photos of birds.

These are some of the shots I’ve taken with the 100-400mm lens I owned then.
(I’ve now switched to a different 100-400mm, but that’s another story.)
